Vata Season is Approaching!

September 7, 2011
Thank you! Healing willow trees

According to the science of Ayurveda, pitta season will soon give way to Vata season.  This usually happens in late September, as summer turns to fall, but the effects can be felt as soon as the days start to shorten, the temperature drops and the wind begins to blow. Here in the northeast, after just a couple of these days, I’m already feeling the subtle change. Vata Season is Approaching!

Come September, I have always felt a shift inside of me for as long as I can remember. I felt anxious and restless, but also very creative and motivated. Thanks to my study of Ayurveda, I now find it easier to identify and effectively deal with these changes. No matter what your Ayurvedic dosha is, we all have Vata qualities in us so we will all feel the seasonal change somewhat. But if you are someone like me who has a lot of Vata in their constitution (Vata-pitta, to be exact), the effects will be greater and likely need more attention.

Below are two great sources if you are interested in learning more about Ayurveda. You can take an easy quiz to determine your predominant dosha(s). I ramble on about Ayurveda a lot in my newsletter and blog, because it has changed my life so dramatically for the better. Check it out and let me know what you find out about yourself!

Love,
Barbara
