Food Focus: Coconut Oil

Coconut!Coconut oil is an incredible substance that can be used as a food as well as a nourishing skin care agent.

Not all coconut oil is created equal. Only natural, virgin and unrefined oil is healthy. You may have heard nasty things about coconut oil in the past. This is because the refined, hydrogenated oil found in many processed foods is harmful to your health and is to be avoided.

Coconut oil has a high heat threshold and is great for stir-frys and perfect for homemade popcorn.

For an excellent moisturizer and skin soother, apply coconut oil to damp skin after a warm shower. It is also great as a deodorant, shaving cream or hair treatment.

This oil has natural antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, making it one of the most potent health agents that you can easily include in your everyday health regime.
